Devotional Thought - Currents

By Faithe Thomas Have you ever been looking through the ads in Sundays paper or the windows in the mall and seen something you absolutely had to have? I have. Whatever that object is, my heart becomes set on obtaining it. Ill save my money, look for the lowest price, and finally purchase it. I am amazed at how committed I am at times to possessing that object. As though driven by a rushing current, my heart is carried along until the item is bought. And then the satisfaction doesnt even last long!! That driving current is not always toward a material object. Sometimes it flows toward an action. Have you ever quit a job? Remember that feeling of resolution, the feeling of determination that nothing can stop, once you had decided in your mind to quit? The action of quitting could not be denied once you set your heart on resigning. God made each one of us with that river of commitment. Sometimes that current takes me in good and godly directions, but not always. When my heart is set on the Lord and His word, that river moves me along His paths and in His will. When I allow my heart to be set on anything other than the Lord, I become carried away by pursuits that offer temporary satisfaction. Where is my heart set? How strong is my commitment to the Lord? Does it drive me to spend time with Him? I am reminded of Ezra in the Old Testament. He had found the secret of staying in those currents which led to God. The good hand of God was upon him, for Ezra had set his heart to study the law of Adonai and to practice it and to teach His statutes and ordinances in Israel. (Ezra 7:9-10) ---- Faithe Finley Thomas lived as a missionary in Ghana, West Africa for six years. Her book "Staying in the Breeze" is a thoughtful reflection of some of her experiences. How To Automate Your Collections

By Tim Randle Having been a landlord since the early part of 1994, I feel fairly safe in stating I've tried almost every imaginable way of collecting monthly payments from my residents. I want to run through some of these methods and let you in on the pros and cons of each technique. I'll wrap it up by telling you what I do now. Personal Collections Scheduling appointments to pick up payments was never even a consideration for me as a standard way of doing business. I'm too lazy and I consider it the resident's responsibility to pay me if they want to stay. The advantage is that you know right away who's paid and who hasn't. You still don't know if the check will clear with good funds, assuming you weren't paid in cash or certified funds. Of course, I've met with residents to pick up payments on special occasions when the resident was late or trying to avoid late fees. Again, this is a waste of time in my opinion. I now have a designated place for the residents to drop off payments if they want to go this route. Also, for chronic late payers, they lose the privilege of paying any other way than by certified funds at the drop box. Once they've paid consistently and timely for six months, I'll consider reverting back to the standard pay system I'll discuss later. If you do decide to meet your residents to collect, I highly recommend NOT meeting at your personal residence. Do not allow any of your residents to know where you live. In fact, my opinion is that you should have an unlisted telephone number for your home line and that you should spend as much time as necessary removing personal information from the various internet directories. Sorry for the tangent here, but I thought it important enough to include. I don't recommend this method as it requires too much effort on your part. The Check's in the Mail This is probably the way everyone starts out. The payment doesn't arrive and the resident claims it's in the mail. If it arrives, is it even good? Who knows? The advantages to this method are that it's very common, and if you have a great tenant, it can be a low hassle way to collect payments. The disadvantages include reliance on the resident's memory to write the check, correctly address the envelope, place the correct postage on it , and actually drop the payment in the mail. Additionally, you then rely on the postal service to deliver the payment to the correct address and in a timely manner. I've even gone as far as providing payment coupons and self-addressed stamped envelopes to residents to remove some of the risk associated with this methodology. I didn't find this added effort to produce any noticeable difference in the results. I don't recommend this method as it requires too much Involvement from your resident. Resident Makes the Deposit I realize many of you will completely balk at this idea, but I've tried it for years now with some success. Prior to having a drop box location, I would give my late payers a bank account number to which they could deposit the monthly payment directly. Naturally, I graduated from that step to providing deposit slips that were pre-printed so the account name and the account number wouldn't be inaccurate. In this case, this added effort did reduce the monthly "I don't have such and such information" telephone calls from the residents. I was never that concerned about a resident attempting to make a withdrawal from my account, although I'm sure that's a possibility. To decrease this risk, you could have a separate bank account for deposits and sweep the funds into another account periodically. Another consideration here is that potentially you could run into a failed eviction for accepting partial payments. Whether or not a judge would consider a tenant making a small deposit in a last ditch effort to avoid eviction "constructive receipt", I'm not able to answer. So far, (knock on wood), none of the folks I've evicted have tried this angle. However, what will invariably happen is that residents WILL make partial payments. The truck broke down, the child custody legal fees, etc. get prioritized over shelter and what few remaining funds there are end up in your account. Then you're left with the fun job of trying to determine who paid what. Advantages to this method are that you don't have to make a trip to the bank and if you have online banking, you know within a day or so if the deposits are there. Again, you don't know whether or not they paid in pennies or stolen checks from their neighbor, but you at least see the deposit made. I don't recommend this method as a standard way of collecting, but perhaps consider it for the good payer who's just had a bad month. Print the Checks for Them (Thanks to Earl B. for the following tip) I forget when it was, but probably sometime around eighteen months ago, one of my friendly competitors suggested I try this service. One of his friends was using it with success so I signed up for it. It's inexpensive and allowed me to just sit down and print all the monthly payments at one time. I signed all new residents up on it and bribed some of my existing residents to join. The service is presented to the residents as an auto draft service and they sign off on a one-page form that authorizes you to debit their account. The program itself is a Windows-based software application that allows you to print these "Demand Drafts". The advantage is that the payments can be set up as a recurring monthly payment and you can print them whenever you want. So, rather than waiting for the mail to arrive, you just sit down at your PC and hit print. The checks roll off your standardized printer. In other words, you don't need any special equipment. On the first of each month (or whenever) you just head on over to the bank. Again, you don't know if the resident has good funds or not, but at least you're not waiting to make your deposit. One of the disadvantages is that you will have to purchase check stock, but I believe I received 300 checks with my initial purchase. Another advantage to using this software is that you could set up your own bills on this so that each month you just print out your recurring bills or a set of blank checks with your pre-printed information. You can find out more about this software by clicking on the url below. Please ignore the cheesy web site and examine the features and benefits for yourself. http://www.TexasRealEstateClub.com/checkman.html I no longer use this method, but can recommend it as It worked well for me. Direct Deposit For the last year I've been using a new service I found. I searched high and low for a reliable, quality direct deposit service that wasn't designed for the huge apartment complexes. Everything I stumbled upon had a fee structure that priced it way out of my league. Again, as before with the CheckMan application, I signed all my new residents up on it (company policy, don't you know?) and bribed some of my existing residents to join as well. I think it's fantastic. Residents receive an email notifying them of the coming draft and it all runs through the banks Automated Clearing House systems (ACH), so there's absolutely nothing that I have to do. The resident's account gets debited automatically on the designated day and I receive an email the next day that shows me which accounts were drafted successfully, and which failed, if any. Three days after that, the funds are automatically deposited into my account. The residents know it's coming and since it's automatic like other bank drafts, it requires no effort on their part. It also requires no effort on my part. It's the simplest solution that I've found and very affordable to boot. Rather than go into all the features and benefits here, I'll just give you a link so you can read about it at your own convenience. http://www.clearnow.com/public/ClearNowEnrollmentGRQ1.pdf I also got them to agree to offer a trial period. If you sign up through the link above, they will give you two full months to try the service at absolutely no cost. I know that if you give them a try, you'll be hooked. Sincerely, Tim Randle

An Easy Way Out: Eight Reasons Why You Should Pre-Plan Your Funeral

By Sharon Hurley Hall Most people want to put off thinking about their funerals. However, you can save your loved ones a good deal of hassle by doing some of the planning in advance. Here are eight reasons why it's a good idea to have a prepaid funeral plan. 1. Your wishes will be carried out. What you want to happen will take place. This is vitally important to most people. 2. The Funeral Director's costs are fixed from the outset so your family will be spared financial obligations - nothing hidden! You'll know that your funeral director will not be able to increase their fees agreed with you by contract. 3.You can choose the plan you want and you can specify your own 'extras'. You can plan your pre-paid funeral plan to your own satisfaction. 4. You spare your family from difficult decisions Who really wants to make those decisions apart from the person themselves? 5.Your own finances may be improved You may be entitled to benefits form local authorities if your total finances are below certain levels. 6. You won't worry about the safety of your money - it will be held in trust You can't pay money directly to the plan provider's bank account. 7. Another family member may need the plan before you You can transfer the plan to another family member if their need arrives before your own. Some couples buy just one plan and use it for whoever dies first and then buy a second plan, but it's more cost effective to buy two at the start to save money from inflation. 8. Those you leave behind will remember your thoughtfulness This is very important to most people. When we leave this life we like to think that others thought well of us. Have You been Denied for a Business Loan? Add a Credit Policy to your Business Plan and Get Approved

By Michelle Dunn If you have been to the bank to get a business loan to start a business or for funding for your existing business you probably approached them with a business plan and possibly a marketing plan or outline. Every business plan has part of if not all of a marketing plan included. If you were denied your loan, part of the problem could be that you didnt explain or elaborate enough on how you were going to pay back the money you want to borrow. Your business plan tells the lender what you are going to do for a business, and the marketing plan tells them how you are going to obtain new clients and make money. Your credit plan or credit policy tells them how you are going to get paid, in order to pay them back. The credit plan will also tell them what you will do if you do make sales and dont get paid. This can put a bankers mind at ease, while showing them that you are serious about your business and about paying them back. Approval of any loan is based on many things, one of the most important being on how you present yourself and your business. A well written business plan is the first step, and will give the lender an overall picture of your business. Make sure you include a credit history or if you have poor credit, get copies of your credit reports and fix any errors and pay off any debts before approaching a lender. You can expedite the processing of your loan by providing the lender with as much relevant information that they need to make a decision right away. If they have to continually contact you for more information, your chances of approval go down. Banks will carefully and particularly look to see if you have a solid understanding of financial record keeping, business credit, the importance of collecting accounts receivables, inventory control and turnover and marketing. If you include a credit policy as well as a marketing plan or marketing plan outline with your business plan you will find that the lender will take you much more seriously and if they had any questions on your understanding of their being paid back will see that you have thought this through and have a plan in place to pay them back their money. That makes every banker happy; remember they make money by lending you money. Remember, when you are trying to get someone to give you money, it is a hard job and the more thorough you are the better your chances. If you approach your lender with a professional looking business plan, that includes a marketing plan and a credit plan, your application will go to the top of the pile. Dating Without Spending

By Martin Lukac Sometimes the best things in life are free. Looking back, some of the best dates I ever went on didn't cost anything at all. Dating is expensive. You've got dinner, which can easily be $40 at the cheapest. Then, you have a movie, which can run another $40 if you buy drinks and candy. That's an $80 evening. Before you know it, a weekend can easily cost you all of your extra money for the month. But it doesn't have to cost so much. The best thing is that often, romance isn't expensive. An afternoon spent fishing. A picnic overlooking the ocean. A afternoon hike through the forest. These are wonderful dates, and they don't cost you anything. Here are some more ideas: An evening spent quietly at home. Cook dinner together. You can make it an adventure and try all new recipes. Watch movies, play a board game or just gaze into a warm fire. Visit a local festival or art fair. Many towns and communities have local events, especially in the summer. It's a good opportunity to experience good food, entertainment and the outdoors. Go camping. Many campgrounds offer free setups for tents. Spend the evening under the stars. Make smores and relax by the fire. Listen to the crickets.
Sometimes the best dates aren't those that you spend a lot of money on. Some time and thought is what it really takes to wow a date. Anyone can spend money on dinner and a movie, but it is truly unique to for someone to make a date to go to the farmer's market and pick out fresh produce for dinner. First dates are sometimes a little tense. Dispense with the usual first-date feelings with a more relaxed atmosphere. Instead of the traditional Friday night first date, why not a Sunday afternoon stroll through the park? Or a Saturday afternoon ball game? Think about ways to take the formality out of the situation. But make sure that you look for activities where you can get to know each other -- that's what the first date is for. The possibilities are endless. Once you get to know someone, you will find many different inexpensive date ideas. Even married couples can take advantage of frugal dating. For example, my husband and I take our baby daughter with us to the drive-in movie. She falls asleep in her carseat, we save the cost of a babysitter and we pack a picnic to eat during the movie. Sometimes we just get sodas and go drive around. We get to spend time together without spending much money or having to worry about a babysitter. It's great. A date isn't just dinner, it is spending time together. When you take the time to find unique ways to spend time together, that time becomes special. Take turns planning dates. You could try something new together or do the same thing every weekend. What really matters isn't the money you spend, it's the time. Have fun! Inviting Women Into Your Life Eliminates Women Who You Were Not Going To Attract AnyWays

By Teddy Shabba Many guys when first introduced to the concept of inviting a woman into your life instead of on a date; like the idea of it but worry that some women will not go for it. You need to realize that there are only two types of women who will not go for an invitation into your life instead of a date; those who didn't like you in the first place and women who like the stuff they get when they date. While it is true that had you invited these women on a date they might have said yes. However, the attraction or lack thereof that you created in these women is so low that whatever it is you really wanted from these women was not going to happen anyhow. On the other hand, the only types of women that will go for an invitation into your life are those who already like you and those who had a mild interest in you that increased to something more than that when you raised your value by inviting her into your life instead of on a date. Now you are in a position of complete control, you can relax because you know the woman is really into you and you are doing something that you always do. Instead of revealing your interest in a woman by asking her out on a date you actually have concealed it by inviting her into you your life which for a woman means you either have a low interest level in her, are very busy and don't have times for real dates, or both. When it comes to inviting women into your life it's a win/win/win situation for you. Straight Talk: Homosexuality

By Michael Tummillo In the mid 90's, a Presbyterian minister named Steve Brown conducted an interview with the lesbian Pastor from the largest Gay Church in America. Steve had already laid the ground rules for their dialogue regarding the expected, conservative, fundamentalist stance on homosexuality. Essentially, he agreed not to state the obvious and refused to "go there." Instead, Steve displayed one of the most loving, concerned examples of a Christian that I've ever seen as he interviewed this woman. In so doing, I heard her say, softly and sincerely, that gay people sin just as any other Christians sin. She explained that when a person becomes convicted of their sins, godly sorrow leads to repentence from those sins. She admitted that, as a Christian homosexual herself, she simply has not been convicted...condemned, yes, by other believers...but not convicted by the Holy Spirit. Steve replied, "You realize you sound somewhat like a heretic in the gay community by saying these things...." She nodded, "Well, it's the truth." The presentation was so touching, so inspirational, that the station later re-ran the program by popular demand. Brown had remained aware throughout the interview that although the apostle Peter told us, "Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have," he also said, "But do this with gentleness and respect" (1 Peter 3:15). Was this woman speaking for all homosexuals everywhere? Doubtful. No more than yours truly speaks for everyone presently reading this article. The point is, just as this lesbian minister alluded, how many of us are knowlingly, secretly, doing that which is sinful, yet we persist? We may even pray fervently, quietly, that God would help us. I've been there. Especially in matters of forgiveness, knowing what was required of me but wanting to have a few moments alone in which to hate somebody's guts. Is homosexuality a sin? According to Scripture, I believe it's very clear that it is. As I read Genesis 19:4-5; Leviticus 18:22; 20:13; Romans 1:26-27; I Corinthians 6:9-10; I Timothy 1:9-10, it seems clear. Lest we forget, homosexuality is no worse a sin than over-eating, hatred, gossip, doubt, unbelief, rage, rebellion and theft. My own sins are no worse and, as result of the Cross of Christ, are forgiven and forgotten forever. Because His mercy is new every morning, we literally have no past every day! That's great news! The best news is that this forgiveness and mercy is available to ALL. Now THAT is the loving, hope-filled message that Christians should be sharing with those trapped in gay lifestyles. Not to mention those trapped in adultery, substance abuse, unforgiveness or any other sin. Rather than pointing the unfeeling finger of accusation, we must ask ourselves if we qualify for throwing out that first stone. Do we care? I was preaching one Sunday years ago and announced that I was considering placing a banner on the street that said, "This Sunday is Gay Day!" A hush came over the group. Some nervously laughed. Very telling. On the love-meter, I'm afraid we weren't where I thought we were as a group. Too often, as a whole, the Body of Christ seems more concerned with outward appearances than we are with the bondages an individual may be saddled with. We go through our spiritual check-lists: Was he baptized? Does he attend church? Is he regularly in Sunday School? We may never know what another person is struggling with deep inside - and we won't, as long as we continue in our prescribed methods of what we typicaly refer to as "ministry." Homosexuality, a life as an abused child, addiction to everything from porn to pot, thoughts of suicide...any one we know may be wrestling with these issues. Too often, we settle for church attendance as our gauge of how well an individual is doing. We're so impressed by outward appearances, aren't we? In contrast, God looks at the heart (I Samuel 16:7). But I digress. Tolerance at all costs! Tolerance has become the sole absolute of our society, the queen mother of all social values. Kids are hearing it preached every day in Secular Indoctrination Centers (excuse me...Public Schools) and in the media. Unbeknowst to most Christians, tolerance is a threat to our very faith. Some might say that tolerance merely means to recognize and respect all beliefs, practices, and so forth regardless of whether we agree with them or not. After all, we all have a right to our own opinion, right? Today, tolerance means to consider every individual's beliefs, values, lifestyle and claims about truth as being equally valid. So, not only do we have equal rights to our own beliefs - which we DO - but these days, all beliefs are being seen as equal. It's no longer enough to merely respect another person's rights; we're expected to endorse their beliefs, values and lifestyles as well. That is, of course, unless those beliefs are Christian in nature. Then it's open season. When one openly discusses the diety of Christ, His sinless lifestyle, His resurrection, how He is the ONLY way to salvation, people get up in arms. We hear such things as, "How dare you say that?" Wearing a T-Shirt that reads "Jesus is Lord" is to imply that no one else CAN be and it makes people mad. As Christian speaker Josh McDowell states, "The issue is no longer the truth of the message, but the right to proclaim it. In the new cultural climate, any unpopular message can be labeled "intolerant" and therefore be repressed." Former President Bill Clinton linked so-called "hate crimes" to intolerance when he was in office and said, "The No. 1 security threat to [our nation] is the persistence of old, even primitive hatreds.'' Since when does intolerance equal hatred? It does in today's version of tolerance. Where homosexuality is concerned, the Bible, fundamentalist, conservative Christians and Jesus Himself are taking quite a beating. Across the globe, more and more nations are embracing the gay agenda. Tolerance at all costs? Romans 6:23 says, "...the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." William Barclay paraphrases the verse in this way, "If we got the pay we had earned it would be death; but out of His grace God has given us life." The word "wages" (opsonia) in the original Greek language means, "provision money," or supplies paid to an army. The soldiers earned their wages and were paid in daily provisions of food. Sin pays wages in full, without any deductions. Another Greek word we should learn is metanoia, or "Repent." It literally means "to change one's mind." It's not too late. But just as the "straight" Christian world is loaded with sins of its own, we must remain cognizant of the fact that there are people out there who love the Lord despite being gay. We, too, may be in need of repentance, i.e., changing our minds, too. All Christians must teach new disciples, as well as our own children, to embrace all people, but notALL their beliefs. We can listen and learn from everyone without necessarily agreeing with them. We can courageously but humbly speak the truth, even if it makes us the object of scorn. Jesus said all men would hate us because of Him. Make certain that, if anyone hates you, it's ONLy because of Jesus and NOt because you hate them, too. Legal Gay Marriage around the World: Belgium: Legalized gay marriage in 2002. Britain: Plans to introduce legislation soon authorizing civil unions giving gay couples legal recognition with most of the rights enjoyed by married partners. Canada: Legalized gay marriage July 2005. Denmark: The first country to legalize same-sex unions in 1989, later giving couples adoption rights. Other Nordic countries followed in 1990s. France: Allows civil unions since 2000. Germany: Introduced civil unions in 2001. The Netherlands: Became the first country to legalize gay marriages outright in 2001. Portugal: Lesbian and gay couples who live together acquire the same rights as heterosexuals in common-law marriages. Spain: Gay marriages made legal, June 2005. South Africa: Recognized gay rights in its constitution after apartheid ended in 1994. Activists are preparing litigation to have the common law definition of marriage extended to include same-sex couples. Switzerland: Its largest city, Zurich, started recognizing registered gay couples in July 2005. Geneva also recognizes same-sex couples, although grants them fewer rights. In the United States, Massachusetts is the only state that allows gay marriages; Vermont and Connecticut have approved same-sex civil unions. California is feeling the pressure. In Jim Nelson Black's book "When Nations Die," as he describes the fall of all the world's great empires, he writes, "Sexual promiscuity led to the downfall of these nations...." Although he also mentions that homosexuality was prevelant within each fallen empire, so was immorality among those we would refer to as being "straight." Abortion, infanticide and strangulation of children were commonplace in these "advanced" cultures as unwanted children were seen as a burden in an atmosphere of hedonism. The shedding of innocent blood really does bring a curse upon the land. It wasn't just homosexuality that caused each empire's demise. It was the perverse hedonism of those who were straight and "normal," too. What God requires of us Do we stop speaking the Truth? No, not when Jesus said, 'If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free'" (John 8:31,32). That Truth is Jesus Himself for he declared, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me,"(John 14:6). He was either a liar, a lunatic or He really was - and IS -Lord of all things. But when we speak the truth, let us be sure that we are speaking the truth in love for, as the Bible says in Ephesians 4:15, by doing so, we will "grow up into Christ." Lord knows we could use some growing up. Do we love those who say they are gay? If you were/are gay, would you/do you love those Christians who are straight whose lifestyles are loaded with sin? One final thought regarding the Tolerance vs. Love issue. Josh McDowell says: "Tolerance says, "You must approve of what I do." Love responds, "I must do something harder; I will love you, even when your behavior offends me." Tolerance says, "You must agree with me." Love responds, "I must do something harder; I will tell you the truth, because I am convinced 'the truth will set you free.' " Tolerance says, "You must allow me to have my way." Love responds, "I must do something harder; I will plead with you to follow the right way, because I believe you are worth the risk." Tolerance seeks to be inoffensive; love takes risks. Tolerance glorifies division; love seeks unity. Tolerance costs nothing; love costs everything. Jesus is proof of that. Need pastoral counseling and prayer? Weight Loss Dietary Supplements

By Kent Pinkerton According to statistics, almost six out of ten Americans suffer from being overweight and are considered to be close to obesity. The rate of obesity is increasing every year, as most individuals are leading improper life styles and incorrect food habits. As a result, most individuals try to reduce obesity with the help of various weight loss products and dietary supplements available in the market. Individuals have started to look towards faster and often unnatural modes of weight loss techniques in the hope of instant results and overnight slimming down procedures. Some dietary supplements made out of natural ingredients and scientific processes and are professed an authentic and sure way of reducing weight. Their effectiveness and safety may not be vouched for. Dietary supplements may include a combination of vitamins, minerals, herbs, amino acids or botanical plants and come in the form of an extract or concentration of all these ingredients. Dietary supplements are usually available in the form of pills, capsules, gel, liquid, or powder. Most food and medicines used for weight loss programs are scrutinized by FDA or Food and Drug Administration and certified fit for consumption. Safety of dietary supplements cannot be checked by FDA, due to which it remains a matter of concern while using these dietary supplements. FDA can put a ban on such dietary supplements only if a problem is reported after its usage. A supplement prepared from the herb ephedra, also known as ma huang or herbal fen-phen, was considered in 2003 to have caused the death of a famous baseball player. FDA pulled it out from the market post investigation as it came under suspicion. According to researches, trying dietary supplements can be a risky procedure. Such experiments might have worse side effects instead of helping individuals to lose weight. Healthy and balanced diet complemented by regular physical exercises and reduced intake of high calorie foods could be a safer and better way to lose weight. Cell Phone and Radio Wave

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Dr._Kang-pang_Chan]Dr. Kang-pang Chan Cell phones have become very much of a daily necessity for some people. With more and more cell phones going out to the market everyday, the addiction of this convenience seems inevitable. However, with cell phones it is recommended that you use hands free set-up - it is significantly less stressful. There was some argument by the industry for a while that it was just as bad. Someone patented the idea to use the old system in airplanes that had air hoses, with wireless headphones that connected through air conduction. It's a system for cell phones that works very similarly on the air hoses so it doesn't conduct the field of the cell phone into the ear. It's by far the best system. The fact that every time the cell phone is used, there is microwave being broadcast to the brain - the most important organ in our body - is not to be underestimated. There has been so much pros and cons on this subject matter that we as end users should not take such an issue lightly. What if all the negative claims turn out to be valid? If you must use a cell phone, at least don't wear it on your body. It has a strong biological effect against the body itself. I've seen a lot of people nowadays to hang the cell phone band around their neck such that the phone itself is just right on top of the solar plexus area of the body, which according to the Chakras System of the Eastern philosophy, is where the stomach and liver locate. As such, the functions of these vital organs are believed to be negatively affected. The most common negative consequences of such mis-placement have been reported to be abnormal emotional upheavals, indigestion, constipation, inability to focus, sluggish liver functions, etc. The worst effect of the cell phones is the radio wave emitting towers as well as the microwave emitting towers, which do nothing but send out huge amount of wave disturbance to those in the area. Many German firms and experts testify with solid evidence that these towers give out unbelievably strong disturbance to such an extent that they should be banned as the biological effect they have on the human bodies is just too intense to protect from. Although the authority should evaluate very carefully as to where these towers should be erected for the industry, one of the worst places to have been found with these towers is at schools, where kids have growing nervous systems. Could this be the reason why almost 60 % of American kids are diagnosed as hyperactive or some other form of neurological illness? Could the high concentration of these devastating wave lengths in school turn our kids into victims of the electromagnetic pollution? The Fountain of Youth

By Terri Emmett The fountain of youth has always been the most sought-after yet illusive pursuit of man. Does it truly exist? Yes, it does, but not in a tangible form. The fountain of youth is an attitude, a way of thinking, and a way of life. The biggest thrill of childhood was the anticipation of joy and happiness yet to come in your life. Natures progressive order of growing up was inborn in our conscience: o Get an education
o Get a job
o Get married
o Raise a family of your own
o Retire and live happily ever-after Having so much to look forward to in getting older was what made childhood so exciting and full of wonder. Occasionally people reach a stage in life when the thrill of optimism and joy of expectation of these highly anticipated milestone events seem to have been replaced with a ho-hum existence, sprinkled with disappointment after disappointment. This is commonly known as a mid-life crisis. Life automatically has its bumps in the road and everyone experiences the entire emotional gamut in varying degrees. Frustrations, worry, depression and disappointment ultimately take their toll and low self-esteem is most often the individual result. It is this low level of self-esteem that makes you age faster than maybe you actually need to. The biological clock and gravitational forces dont show any kindness, either. So what if you start to look older? If you werent getting older you would have a bigger problem. It happens, so make the best of it. What would happen if you chose to think young again and discovered an entirely new area to explore within your world that gave you something to look forward to every day? Your emotional health would begin to heal and from there, your physical health would be positively affected. You could assume the same innocent anticipation you had as a child, able to experience again that same child-like inner happiness, strength and positive energy. Life is to be lived with enthusiasm and with a strong desire to see what comes next. This is the power of youth. When you make up your mind there is nothing left, age takes its toll. The power is inside you to think young and therefore restore your youth all over again. You can change your thoughts by changing the way you choose to view situations, circumstances, people and especially yourself. Self-confidence and self-esteem make you look, feel and carry yourself youthfully. Making the effort to look your best from head to toe at all times, gives you personal pride and allows you to defy human nature in an effort of fighting the negative elements of physical aging. What did you do when you were a kid? Why not continue doing it? Bounce on a trampoline. Lift weights. Play games. Swing on the swing at the park. Laugh. Take a nap. Accept a new challenge now and then. Maybe your life just needs a little rejuvenation and your furnace of metabolism just needs a little re-regulating. Having something to look forward to makes that possible and adds sparkle to life. Hope is an attitude without age limitations. Keep your mind filled with knowledge and keep it productive. Do all the good you can with what you have and never quit having a goal to work toward. Nothing brings more joy in life than achievement of your goals, perhaps because by now you have learned that you have no choice but to give your best efforts and utilize your talents to reach them. Having something to strive toward allows you to overcome emotional old age. Decide on a new goal and give your best efforts in attempting to achieve it. Nothing brings more joy in life than a goal achieved. Wanting to do something and giving it the very best you can provides an inner personal joy. Hard work, dedication and determination will bring greater happiness than anything else in life. Refuse to get old. You dont have to. Youth is enthusiasm, activity, plans and projects. Fall in love with what you are doing. o Smile often
o Have a good sense of humor
o Make others feel happy about themselves
o Know your limitations
o Laugh at yourself
o Be your true, uninhibited self
o Be determined to excel
o Retain your own personal technique and make it your trademark Tell yourself you are still a child and that you plan to stay there. You can turn back the hands of time by dressing younger and listening to the music you listened to when you were a hope-filled, love-struck teenager. Seeking ways to improve yourself must become a way of life - and its never too late to start! Your Weight Loss Program - Part 2

By David K. Snyder In my previous article we discussed your weight goal and how to find it. We also touched on the need for diet and exercise combined to lose weight. In this article we will discuss crash dieting and why it may actually cause you to gain weight in the long run. In the United States crash dieting is a multi billion dollar industry. You see the ads on television each and everyday trying to sell you the latest diet supplement or quick loss program. Do these programs work? Absolutely! And these marketers get rave reviews from their customers. At least initially they do, but you find that frequently these customers gain their weigh back as well as more weight. A lot of your initial weight loss is water loss. You diet and lose 10 pounds in one week and you feel great. All is well in the world and then you stop losing weight. What has happened? Your body has adjusted to your low calorie intake and is now shutting down. It has decreased your metabolic rate to preserve itself. And the body will burn the lean muscle mass to preserve the stores of calories it needs to survive and those calories are in the fat stores. Another thing that happens with the quick weight loss diets is that your body burns the lean body mass and thus needs fewer calories to sustain your weight. Lets look at an example. Betty needs 2500 calories to maintain her current weight. She decides to diet and goes on a 1000 calorie per day diet. She loses weight but approximately 60% of her weight loss was lean body mass. So in the two week period she lost 20 pounds and 12 pounds of it was lean body mass. Now as we discussed in the last article lean muscle burns 30 to 70 calories per day so her body now needs 360 to 840 calories less per day to maintain. Now she goes back to her 2500 calories per day of food intake. Using a conservative figure of 360 calories less per day her body needs she will gain 1 pound every 10 days on the 2500 calorie diet she was used to. So now even though she is doing nothing more than she did before her diet she is gaining weight again. So as you can see the quick weight loss diet may not be good from the point of regaining the weight afterwards. You must also realize that during the dieting phase you may be depriving your body of much needed nutrients and vitamins. Fast weigh loss has been associated with the development of gallstones and you may experience lose skin from the loss of body mass while your skin has no opportunity to shrink. In our next installment we will discuss the change in diet to help you lose weight. David Snyder is an RN who is looking at the weight loss epidemic facing society. Bartending Pro Tips Part 1: How to Make Money and Have Fun With a Career in Bartending!

By Steve Landen In a bar, you will find an interesting and diverse community of people who will seek out fine bartending, not only for the relaxation and camaraderie, but also for a familiar and comfortable environment where they are recognized and accepted. For many people, in this competitive and aggressive world, a bar may be a sole source of sustenance for those basic things that are so essential to us all as humans. We are, after all, social beings. Who doesn't recall an episode of the television series "Cheers" when every time one of the leading characters would walk in, the entire bar would erupt in the chorus of "Hey Norm?" Few of us are entitled to such a universal form of recognition and instant acceptance from bar patrons, but an excellent bartender can provide almost the same sort of experience for customers. I bartended to work my way through both undergraduate and graduate school, and have gone back to it several times when I grew weary of corporate life. The money (if you do it right) is about the same anyway, and, admittedly, it is tiring and demanding, like any job, but it is a heck of a lot more fun! Every bar is different in its nature and appeal (strip bar vs. a restaurant's cocktail lounge), so this is not a "one size fits all" but, for the most part, if you follow these few words of advice, you can make it both enjoyable and very profitable! 1. Welcome all of your customers as though you know them and introduce yourself. Remember their names and welcome them, using their names, the next time they visit. (Keep a legal pad if you need too, "gray beard, thick glasses, name George, drinks Bud"... and any quirks you can note that will help you recall. Failing that just say "Hey good to see you again!" Just think of it like if you were having a party in your own home.. It's easy! 2. Always keep in mind what their drink of choice is and be prepared to offer them their preference. You should already know the names and preferences of your regulars. 3. If a customer comes accompanied by a date or companion, treat them both as if they are royalty, address the customer as in "Wonderful to see you again, Mr. or Ms so and so (if they are a regular). And what can I do especially for your guest?" Be sure to use the finest glass for their friend. If you treat them with that sort of respect, you cannot only expect a nice tip, but you can bet that they will be back over and over, and looking for you. 4. Yes, do remember jokes. Remember them when you hear them and study them on the Internet. Internet jokes are so boring that most of us just delete them, but ahhh... the telling of a joke is just that, it is the delivery and the story telling that makes it both interesting and amusing. Be prepared to have at least two new ones on every shift. 5. Your smile and your obvious enjoyment of both your job and your customers are worth a lot more than tossing bottles about or doing circus tricks. If you can do it, well it doesn't hurt, but most folks are there for a drink, company and the respect and recognition that they don't receive in day-to-day life. 6. Depending on the policy of your employer, when customers come in for the first time, and have just one beer while reading the newspaper or looking around, and then start to leave, slide them a free beer/drink and say "I am glad that you came in and I have enjoyed your company," (calling them by name, of course). "My name is so and so, and please do come back." Pay for that beer/drink out of your tips if you must; you will get it back, ten-fold. 7. Remember that these are customers. They are not really your buddies, so stay professional. 8. Though you will have many opportunities for intimate encounters, stay focused on your career and that you are there to make a living. Don't ever forget that "one night stands" are never just that in the bartending world; the customer you became close with will likely be sitting on the other side of the bar, within a few days, regardless of how much you regret that moment. Tips 9-13 are not listed due to article length constraints. Please visit our website listed in the resource/bio box for part two of these bartending income generating tips or look for Part 2 of this series on this website titled: Bartending Pro Tips Part 2: How to Make Money and Have Fun With a Career In Bartending! Camera Mobile Phones - Its Just The Beginning...

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Alice_Erin]Alice Erin Anyone who has been keeping a track of the growing cell phone phenomenon will know how the Camera Mobile Phones have swept the digital camera market. The concept was a mere addition, when it was launched, and now one really have to look hard to spot a mobile that is devoid of an embedded camera. Such is its hype, that the researchers speculate that soon the low end camera phones, will completely overtake the low-end digital cameras within two years. Mobile phones with 1.3-megapixel cameras will soon be very common and will outsell VGA camera phones by early following year. So what really makes Camera Mobile Phones one of the most sought after feature? Well, the answer is, camera mobile phones offer fun and exciting ways to capture and send images in a flash. Unlike bulky digital cameras, a camera mobile is small, light and easy to carry. We carry our mobiles everywhere we go, and a camera mobile phone allows us to capture both planned and unplanned moments of life. Moreover, we can instantly e-mail photos to anyone or blog no matter where we are. Camera mobile phones also find applications in security and safety. Amateur photojournalists have caught breaking news stories, crime etc on their camera mobile phones. The present day market is flooded with a gamut of Camera Mobile Phones , having different specifications. While some allow to shoot pictures at one or a little more megapixels, others come with additional features like auto-flash, digital zoom, video recorders, BestPic etc. Dual cameras are also catching up, that empower the users to participate in video calling. Day by day more additional features are provided with the Camera Mobile Phones to lure the target audience. Of course with the deciding factors like storage capability, multimedia message interoperability, better imaging and picture-management software. Major players such as Motorola and Nokia have done quite good in the arena. While, other manufactures such as Sony Ericsson (with their 'K' series) and LG are gearing up to establish themselves. Thus, if current trends are any indication, then camera mobile phones have an escalating future. Analyze Your Stocks And Double Your Profit

By Joseph Kenny An investor buys a share of stock by resorting to various approaches that validate his investment by reaping rich profits. Before investing, however, it is necessary for a value investor to study the financials of a business, so that the stock he buys at the companys intrinsic value promises a greater return at its liquidation value (the value of a company if all its assets were sold). A typical investor would buy growth stocks that have an upward trend, and seem likely to keep growing for a long time. Whereas, a technical investor (also known as a Quant) makes decisions based upon the psychology of the market and related factors, which involve much higher risk but may prove to be more profitable, or, can conversely result in much greater losses. The fundamental analysis of any business can depend on various factors: efficient market theory, value and growth, growth at a reasonable price and the quality of the business. 1. Efficient market theory pertains to stocks being always correctly priced, as all the requisite information is available on the current price.
2. The stock market sets up the price.
3. Analysts decide upon the value of a company based on the potential for its growth.
4. Price and value may not be equal, due to certain irrationalities governing the market. Value investors need to rely on certain stringent rules governing the nature of the stock which adhere to the following criteria: 1. Earnings: company earnings are profits after taxes and interests.
2. Earnings per share (EPS): the amount of recorded income (on per share basis) available to the company to pay dividends to stockholders, or to reinvest in itself.
3. Price/Earnings Ratios (P/E) ratio (having a justified upper limit): If the company's stock is trading at $80 and its EPS is $8 per share, it has a multiple, or P/E of 10. This means that investors could expect a 10% cash flow return:
$8/$80 = 1/10 = 1/(PE) = 0.10 = 10%
If it's making $4 per share, it has a multiple of 20 (20 times $4 equals $80). In this case, an investor might receive a 5% return (in the same conditions);
